Hydrogen export cluster to GCC countries
Korkia, together with its partners LUT University, Rejlers and Kova PMC, is implementing a project in which we will start exporting Finnish hydrogen cluster companies to the GCC region and help companies to participate in large investment projects in the target region.
Combining Finnish expertise with the GCC countries' interest in the hydrogen industry offers business opportunities in the hydrogen value chain
POLICY OBJECTIVES
The GCC countries recognize the need to move from fossil energy production to renewable energy production. Countries in the region want to diversify local industry beyond the oil and gas industry and see hydrogen as a key factor in change.
WIND AND SOLAR POWER
Renewable energy in the GCC countries offers opportunities for green hydrogen production. The United Arab Emirates hosts two of the world’s top ten solar power plants (1.2 GW and 2.0 GW), one completed and the other under construction.
HYDROGEN PARKS
Several hydrogen pilot plants and parks are planned in the GCC countries. The Emirates’ first renewable energy hydrogen electrolysis pilot plant is under construction. Several companies and government agencies are exploring the use and further processing opportunities of hydrogen.
ENERGY COMPETENCE
Hydrogen Export Cluster to GCC Countries
On May 10, 2021, Korkia organized a webinar where we presented the project. In addition to the project plan, the webinar included Ambassador Antti Rytövuori’s overview of the situation in the GCC region.
