A Finnish marine technology startup Norsepower, who started its operations under the guidance of Eera, won prestigious ‘Innovation of the Year’ award at the 2016 Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards ceremony in Amsterdam.
Norsepower was recognised for developing the world’s first commercially viable renewable energy-powered vessel technology.
In 2014, Norsepower brought an auxiliary wind propulsion solution to the market. This solution helps cargo vessels significantly reduce fuel consumption.
“The rotor sail solution is unlike anything else and, as such, truly innovative,” commented Simon Enticknap, editor, Marine Business.
This originally Finnish invention is just one example of Eera’s work in furthering Finnish industrial design and innovation.
